Welcome to our school website which we hope will give you some insight into our very special school community of which we are very proud.
We opened just over 150 years ago as the first free Catholic primary school in London. The school is in the Trusteeship of the Oratory Fathers and Catholicism infuses its life, from Reception to Year 6. Our close-knit community, made up of wonderful children, enthusiastic parents, a dedicated staff and supportive governors and trustees, work together in a spirit of trust and collaboration to ensure we give the very best to our children.
We equip our children to become faithful Catholics, loving and considerate with others, and keen to make the most of the years that stretch before them to do good. Christ’s message is expressed in the kindness children are taught to show each other; not only in the particular importance we put on Juniors looking after Infants in our Owl and Owlet programme, but in everyday behaviour. This makes for a welcoming, happy school with children and families of many different kinds. From the moment our Reception Owlets join us, we nurture in them a strong sense of self-belief, a want to help others through Christ’s example and a natural strive for excellence so that by the time our Year 6 Owls leave us they are equipped and ready with the knowledge and skills to spread their wings and succeed in whatever they aspire to.
We are very proud of our academic record, bringing the best from children of all abilities, while at the same time placing tremendous importance on the social, emotional and physical wellbeing of our pupils. Our diverse and creative curriculum encourages our children to become independent thinkers and reflective learners inspiring each and every child to fulfil their academic and creative potential.
We value the integral partnership between home and school and are hugely grateful for our supportive parent body with our Parents’ Association forming a key part of our school community. We offer regular parent workshops about developments in education, termly parent meetings with class teachers and a Parent Forum for parents to air any concerns.
I would like to thank you for taking an interest in Oratory Primary School and we very much look forward to welcoming you.
